Diques y la Casa de Chatham / Dykes & The Chatham House...

English below (just look for this color text),

Buenas,

Me estoy aclimatando...

------------------ English Version ------------------

Hi,

It's 18:00 and the night has come already: today, as you should know, we've changed to the Winter Time and you can notice it because of the lack of light...

Yesterday if was a day of walks: I began to move in the city as a pieton... Google Maps helped me a lot (I set the place where I live as point of origin and from that I can study the maps to get an orientation)... I did some shopping and then I stayed @ Home until I went to sleep, around (heads up!) 9 o'clock in the evening... The difference of height (Madrid is around 650 meters above Sea level and Amsterdam is below Sea Level) makes that my legs feel heavier and I feel tired more often... I'm trying to get the shape for this place...

Yesterday, too, I learnt something really curious: the Chatham House's Rule... What is it? You may wonder as I did...

I'll explain it with my own words: back in 1927, an organization called Chatam House decided to create a rule to ease the freedom of expression on meetings, having the ability to say whatever they want to, having the ability to use whatever people say in that meeting publicly, but, very important, with the limitation of not being able to say who said what... Because of that, freeing to the speakers from the responsibility of the words they say, you ease dialog among entities (people, companies, governments and so on).

You never go to bed without learning something new, isn't that true? :-)

Today the journey has been calm: in the morning I went to have a coffee to “De Jaren”, which is my favorite café here in Amsterdam... I have been reading some press (EL PAIS to be precise) and then, in the afternoon, I had a Coke with a person who offered me a sort of possible collaboration for something (is not really a job but it's an opportunity in terms of labour reference for my resume, out of being a really nice and curious thing :-)).

Step by step I progress: this is the beginning of “The Dutch Experience” and the most important thing right now is to feel I'm progressing :-)

I cannot take any photos (I bought some batteries but with the wrong size) but that would be solved soon :-)

That's it: today, as of yesterday, Amsterdam prevails ;-)

  2. Hola Sara :-)

    Saludetes,

    Paquito.
