Paseando por Amsterdam / Walking through Amsterdam

English below (just look for the blue text),

Buenas,

----------------- English Version ------------------

Hi,

This is an
interactive post today: Every time you see a link (you know, the underlined words) you must put your mouse over it (no need for you to click) to see what I want you to see...

Our tour begins at Prinsengracht, one of Amsterdam's main canals. The canals in Amsterdam are circular and concentric and, thus, in order to position you a little better, we will in Westermarkt, where you can find the tram stop and a beautiful church...

What is special Prinsengracht in that area? Well, you are in the Jordaan, one of the most attractive districts (and expensive) from Amsterdam. The streets are beautiful (I love them) full of channels (of course), above all, at 267 on Prinsegracht, you will find the Anne Frank's House, which, curiously, was opened as a museum on May 3, 1960 ( I must add that day to my personal anniversaries... What is it around May 3? ;-)).

If we continue moving toward the center by the Raadhuisstraat, you will suddenly find an interesting counterpoint: in one of the sidewalks you'll see Amsterdam's Machouse (an Apple Premium Reseller) and, in front of it, a Spanish restaurant... Face to face, one of the best cuisines in the world and, certainly, the finest manufacturer of electronic devices in the world :-)

At the end of street, you will find the Dam Square, where you will see some interesting things: the monolith, Amsterdam's City Hall, the Wax Museum (Madame Tussaud), "De Bijenkorf" which is a like a Macy's mall, a church with an exhibition of objects from Afghanistan and the entrance to a small street where you will see thousands of people...

That is the Kalverstraat! If you walk through the end of this street, you can find the Flower Market (you will notice because just behind you you'll a tower with a clock), and directly opposite the entrance to the flower market, you will see the reguliersbreerstraat , in which you can see the facade of the Tuschinski Theatre (which is a very famous theater/cinema in Amsterdam), and walking until the end of the street, you will see the RembrandtPlein (Rembrandt Square), where you must take a picture to his statue and the characters just below him...

Next to it you will see some "curious" cafés (I think they call it "Coffee-Shops") that may be very interesting places, because everyone leaves them smiling ;-)))

I do not know what will be the experience of counting this as you go looking to the images: Google Maps is being made for the car so I can not create an pietonal pathto show you the route that we have followed... Such a pity :-))

Kind regards and hope that you liked the tour: Amsterdam prevails! :-))

  2. Hola Sara:

    Paquito.
