¡Hola! :-))

----------------- English Version ------------------

Hi! :-))

It has been a very long day: I am tired as hell (later on you'll find out why) but, nevertheless I refuse to go to bed without telling you what happened today, thinking maybe it could be fun for you (or at least something interesting: let's see how it goes).

The day began at 7 am, with Amsterdam's sunrise, the sky slightly red and a belief (as I noticed when I went to the terrace) that would be cold ...

Obviously I am not the weather man because and that is why I suffered today a lot of heat...

The thing is that at 8:30 I was in the street looking for the bus that would take me to my interview, a place located in the south of Amsterdam, and with my coat, I realize it was not a good option to wear it today (the heat began to strike) ...

I went to the place with a long time in advance (I had my interview at 10) so when the headhunter called me and asked whether we could move it forward, I was lucky enough to say "Of course"...

But that would not be the only lucky strike on the day.

Already in the building, I got wrong the floor number and when leaving the lift I didn't the place but, all of a sudden, I saw a very special carpeting that I had seen for almost 2 years ago in a newspaper interview...

I did not give it more importance than that, so I just went into another lift and looked for the right floor where I was supposed to...

Destiny has a sort of sense of irony: just in the floor below the place where I was going I saw the name of a company: "Google" ...

The interview was great and when I was asked if I would like to work in any company in particular, I just put the finger on the ground with a big smile...

Dreaming is free, Right?

The story is that with such a name beneath my feet, suddenly I felt like Luke when he discovered the powers of the force, because despite having been an eventful day, suddenly I had a brutal quantity of energy and vitality inside me. Suddenly my thoughts were driving to a really high speed and everything flowed to almost perfection: I felt great and when I finished the interview, I went to a train station to go to my next interview (a "bit" farther than the first one)...

On the train I met a woman who works at the airport. We spoke about The Netherlands, jobs, life... She gave me a candy and we discused about the nicest weather we were having and how, because of that, The Netherlands becomes one of the most beautiful places in the world, while, at the same time, I was melting down (despite having removed the coat).

I arrive to the train station almost an hour and a half later: I am nearly 2 hours ahead of schedule, so I just went to look for the first bus that I have to take which would bring me to another bus station to take a second one which would finally lead me to the place I had to go :-))

While seated on the first bus I got a phone call: is one of the people who is going to interview me, asking about the possibility of advancing the interview (I say that there is no problem, saying I would be there in around half an hour) ...

So, at 12:40 Paquito entered into that company ...

The interview was to be recorded: I can not say anything about the organization, but the truth is that as the project they showed me sounds very good ...

All the process has been very funny: I take things with joy and good sense of humor because I think it is good to know how you are. The truth is that what should have taken only 1-hour or so, finally took almost 2 hours, where we talked about all sorts of things (especially work) and where we finished with a job description in my hands, a pen underlining things and I read at full speed stressing the things that I liked about the position...

A brutal feeling: I was full of energy. Everything was possible and above all, I had a thousand and one answers for each question that they raised me (they were very interested in me: almost 2 hours of interview where he talked about everything, a non-stoping conversation which actually went smooth as silk) ...

At one point they told me that they needed a person "able to use his lateral thinking: to think outside the box, as they need someone with the capacity of abstraction to see things from different perspectives" ...

I told them that the first time I had to fill out a review, I wrote "I like to think different: to think outside the box leads to understand issues from different angles so you may implement alternative solutions" ... I didn't tell them they made me delete that, but that is another story ...

Detail: During the interview, I recalled the famous conversation with Mr. Hopkins about the Macbook Air, and I spoke of the existence of the famous lecture by Malcolm Gladwell at Ted where he said that "there is no perfect sauce, but perfect different sauces" and I laughed a lot thinking about how much he would have laughed just looking at me when saying so :-))

The thing was so good that at the end I was driven by car to the train station (they behaved very well with me), and then I went back to Amsterdam, I felt with so much energy that I went from Centraal Station to home by walk (there are a few miles), and when I arrived, I took a shower, I changed my clothes and I went back to the street, walking to Kalverstraat (in total, I believe today I walked nearly 9 miles) ...

I saw the sunset and I walked through Amsterdam while this was happening: near of the center (on the southern part of the Jordaan) I crossed the enlightened canals and I regret not having a good camera to show you how beautiful this city is when good weather appears... If one day you come (remember, spring is the best time) I hope you can admire the beauty that I find in every little corner, in every place of it, The "Venice of Northern Europe" ...

That's it: tiredness has made appearance and it is time to go to sleep. My interview ended with me saying, "What you see is what you get" and, in the same way, this post ends up saying that everything you read is what has happened...

And, because of the sunrise, because of the good weather, for the evening and for the canals with the night lights, today, more than ever, I can say, Amsterdam prevails! :-))

    Paquito.
