El asalto a IKEA y MediaMarkt / The IKEA and MediaMarkt's Strike

Buenas:
Ha sido un fin de semana ajetreado, haciendo un montón de cosas y yendo de un lado para el otro en coche (que es toda una experiencia aquí en Amsterdam)...
En primer lugar, el sábado tuvimos el ataque a IKEA y a MediaMarkt justo al lado del estadio del Ajax, el equipo de fútbol de la ciudad. Al fin pude conducir por esta ciudad y, salvo por la velocidad (muy reducida en ciudad, apenas 40 kilómetros por hora) la experiencia es curiosa, por cuanto tienes que tener en cuenta factores a los que los españoles no estamos acostumbrados (las bicicletas y los tranvías principalmente)...
El caso es que cuando salimos de la ciudad tomamos el Ring, o, como decidí rebautizar, "La M-30" (en honor a una de las autopistas que rodea mi querido Madrid) y, unos 20 minutos más tarde, estaba aparcando en IKEA, en una operación de inspección y compra (inspección para mi, compra para las personas que venían conmigo)...
IKEA es un lugar peligroso: es un lugar de donde no puedes salir sin comprar nada PERO he encontrado una solución para dicha conjetura, que no es más que ponerte los auriculares y escuchar música mientras caminas entre los muebles...
Momento inolvidable cuando, al ir al restaurante y pedirme las famosas albóndigas suecas, intento pronunciar en holandés el nombre del plato... Y digo "inolvidable" porque cuando lo intenté y vi que no podía, le dije a la chica que me atendía que me explicara cómo lo pronuncian ellos y, justo después de explicármelo y pronunciarlo, se me unió el resto de cocineros para que intentara pronunciar el resto de platos (los cocineros muertos de risa y el personal de la cola observando el espectáculo de un extranjero haciendo el idiota: "impagable")...
Justo después de salir (al final compré sólo una cosa para la ducha) nos encaminamos hacia nuestro siguiente punto de compra: el MediaMarkt, pero, en este caso, el "comando" se disgrega (ellas se van a Decathlon, Paquito se va al MediaMarkt) y, una vez solo, busco los aparatos que luego tendrán que comprar mientras me doy una vuelta por la tienda (peligroso lugar para un amante de la tecnología como yo)...
Una vez encontrados y evaluados los objetos que me han pedido que localice, me pongo a mirar otras cosas y entonces, una vez más, me encuentro con mi pequeña obsesión electrónica...
Están en una mesa separada del resto: varios modelos allí expuestos parecen llamarme y como no sé resistirme, para allá me encamino...
2 iMacs y varios Macbooks en modo "exposición" con vídeos sobre lo maravillosos que son y demás... Lo primero que hago es ponerme delante de uno de ellos (un Macbook blanco) y desactivo el modo en el que están, poniéndome a jugar con ellos...
Juego con varias imágenes: las roto con mis dedos, las expando y las contraigo, hago todas esas cosas que verías en una demo de Steve Jobs... Me lo estoy pasando bomba y, como estoy escuchando música con mi iPod, no me entero de lo que sucede a mi alrededor, de ahí que cuando terminé de probarlos, me encuentro con varias personas mirándome, preguntándome dos de ellos como hacía eso de girar las imágenes y demás (son cosas que vistas desde fuera tienen el famoso efecto "Wow" aunque en realidad sean muy sencillas)...
Finalmente me paso por la zona de los DVDs... Voy rápido (me conozco: si paro me llevo media tienda) pero justo cuando estoy a punto de salir de la zona veo ese DVD...
"Bottom - 2,99 Euros"... No puede ser: es la primera temporada de una serie británica que llevo buscando desde hace años (la descubrí cuando tenía 14 años, cuando la emitían los sábados a las 20:30 en Canal+: mi memoria para ciertas cosas sigue estando intacta) a un precio tan bajo que tengo que mirarlo varias veces...
"Es una ganga" pienso y cojo el DVD sin pensarlo, aunque mi instinto me dice que no es el único que hay...
Efectivamente: veo en otro sitio las otras dos temporadas a unos precios ridículamente baratos (2,99 Euros la segunda y 5,99 Euros la tercera) de ahí que finalmente me lleve los tres DVDs con una felicidad interior indescriptible (sí: yo soy feliz con cosas así, no necesito nada más)...
Unos minutos más tarde nos reunimos todo el grupo, sumándose a él un holandés... Finalmente habremos comprado un lector de DVD multi-formato, un teléfono inalámbrico con contestador y un disco duro de 500 Gigas para hacer backups (que luego al personal se les suicida el ordenador y no les hace gracia)...
La selección de fútbol de España empieza a jugar justo cuando llegamos a casa, pero estoy cansado y tampoco me apetece verlo, de ahí que instale el lector de DVD y ponga uno de esos DVDs que "alguien" me ha enviado (no diré nombres, así que nuestro secreto estará a salvo Sr... "Pérez", Sr. Pérez ;-)) y vea por fin a House M.D. en la tele (llevo un año siguiendo a mi doctor favorito a través de la pantalla de mi ordenador: el salto en calidad es ESPECTACULAR)...
El domingo, eso sí, es "Día de Proyecto": estaremos en total unas 11 horas trabajando y, como siempre, me iré del lugar con una sonrisa en mis labios... Últimamente además estamos siguiendo una excelente línea de trabajo, de ahí que las cosas salgan y que poco a poco las cosas avancen en la dirección adecuada (ya tenemos procedimientos para casi todo y en breve estrenaremos una nueva página Web reflejando algunos de ellos :-)).
Esta mañana he vuelto a mis particulares oficinas (la famosa biblioteca de Ámsterdam de la que tanto os he hablado) y he tenido un agradable almuerzo con una amiga... Después, ya en mi mesa de trabajo (prometo tirar fotos: os lo debo y voy a cumplir mi promesa, de verdad) he estado trabajando en algunas cosillas y luego ya me he vuelto a casa...
En estos momentos "Richard Richard" y "Eddie Hitler" (los protagonistas de "Bottom" y no, no me he equivocado escribiendo el apellido del segundo) están haciendo de las suyas mientras escribo estas palabras...
Mañana tengo que hacerme el bono de transportes de la ciudad para que, el 1 de Julio, pueda llegar a mi nuevo destino...
Por cierto: si alguien alquila una casa por estos lares, que se ponga en contacto conmigo, que ya que me he pasado por IKEA digo yo que habrá de sacarle algún provecho, ¿No? :-)))))

It has been a very busy weekend, doing a lot of things and going from one place to another by car (which is an experience here in Amsterdam) ...
Firstly, on Saturday we had the IKEA and MediaMarkt Strike right next to the Ajax stadium, the famous football team in town. At last I could drive through this city and, except for the speed (barely 30 miles per hour within the city) experience is curious, because you have to take into account factors that Spaniards we are not used to (bicycles and trams mainly) ...
The fact is, when we left the city, we took the Ring, or, as I decided to rename it, "The M-30" (in honor of one of the highways that surrounds my dear Madrid), and about 20 minutes later, I was parking in IKEA, to deploy a recon and purchasing operation (for me it was recon, for people who came with me was the purchasing) ...
IKEA is a dangerous place: a place where you can not leave without buying anything but I found a solution to this conjecture, which is nothing more than wearing your headphones while listening some music while to walk among the furniture...
Unforgettable moment when, at the IKEA restaurant I asked for the famous Swedish meatballs, attempting to pronounce the name of the dish in Dutch... And I say "unforgettable" because when I tried it and I saw that I was not able to, I told the girl who was attending me to explain me how to pronounce do it and, just after receiving the proper explanation, other cooks joined her asking me to try to name the remaining dishes (cooks were laughing to dead while people at the queue were observing the show from a foreigner doing the idiot: "priceless")...
Right after leaving (at the end I bought only one thing for the shower) we moved towards our next "procurement point": MediaMarkt, but in this case the "command" was disaggregated (They chose Decathlon, Paquito went to MediaMarkt), and once I was alone, I looked for the items they have to buy while I was taking a tour at the store (quite a dangerous place for a technology lover like me) ...
Once I evaluated and found the objects that have been asked to locate, I start looking at other things and then, once again, I found myself in front of my little electronic obsession...
They was a table separated from the rest: several electronic models are place there and it seems they are calling me so, as I am unable to resist that temptation, I walked on that direction...
2 iMacs and several Macbooks on "demo" mode showing some videos about how wonderful they are... The first thing I do is to place me in front of one of them (one white Macbook) and turn off the demo, beginning to play with it...
I played with several images: I rotated them with my fingers, also expanding and contracting them, doing all those things you may see on a Steve Jobs' demo... I am focused on that and, as I am listening some music on my iPod, I am not aware about what is happening around me, so once I finished, I showed several people looking at me, asking me two of them how I was turning the images and doing other stuff (the kind of things that are seen from outside with the famous "Wow" effect, though, actually, they are really easy to do) ...
Finally I walked through the DVD zone... I walk fast (I know myself: if I do a stop, I'll buy half of the shop) but just when I'm about to leave the area I saw that DVD...
"Bottom - 2.99 Euros" ... It can't be possible: is the first season from a British comedy that I have been looking for years (I discovered it when I was 14, I used to watch it on Saturdays at 20:30 on Canal +: my memory for certain things remains intact) to a such a ridiculous price that I have to check it several times...
"It's a bargain" I say to myself while taking the DVD without thinking, but my instinct tells me that it is not the only one in there...
I was right: right near off I found the other two seasons at also very low prices (2.99 euros 5.99 euros) so I finally takes the three DVDs with an indescribable happiness inside me (yes: I am happy with things like that, I do not need anything else) ...
A few minutes later we gathered, adding to the group a Dutch guy... Finally we bought a multi-format DVD Player, a cordless phone with answering machine integrated and a 500 GB hard drive to make backups (the reason for this last item is easy: when the computer commits suicide, then people don't like it at all) ...
The Spanish National Football team began to play once we came back home, but I was tired and I did not want to watch it, so I installed the DVD player and put one of those DVDs that "someone" has sent me (I will not say names, so our secret will be safe Mr... "Perez," Mr. Perez ;-)) and finally I watched House MD on a TV (I have been watching to my favorite doctor across the screen of my computer for a year: the improvement in quality is spectacular) ...
On Sunday, however, is "Project Day" working around 11 hours and, as always, I left the place with a smile on my lips ... During the last times we are following an excellent line of work, so things come out gradually and that things move in the right direction (we already have procedures for almost everything and soon we will release a new web page showing some of them :-)).
This morning I went back to my "peculiar office" (the famous Amsterdam Central Library that I have been talking to you) and I had a pleasant lunch with a friend... Later, back to my working table (I promise to pull pictures: I owe you and I will fulfill my promise, really) I've been working on some things and then I have already returned home ...
At the moment "Richard Richard" and "Eddie Hitler" (the protagonists of "Bottom" and no, I am not making a mistake when writing the last name from the second one) are doing their gags...
Tomorrow I have to get the transport card for the city as, on July 1, I have reach my new destination...
By the way: if someone rents a house for these larly, to contact me, because I have gone through IKEA and I should deploy some of the things that I saw, right? :-)))))

Ikea, Media Markt, Decathlon, vamos, que lo mismo que hacemos casi todos los europeos un sábado de compras...esto de la globalización...probar las pantallas de los imacs es todo una experiencia, ciencia ficción cuando jugabamos con el spectrum. Salu2

ResponderEliminarGracias por tu visita y tu comentario: efectivamente, lo que cualquiera puede hacer en cualquier capital Europea, sólo que es algo que yo no suelo hacer habitualmente (salvo visitar el MediaMarkt cuando estaba en Madrid, eso sí :-))
Te puede parecer estúpido (y seguro que en realidad lo es) pero la cuestión es que la parte de jugar con los Macs fue muy chulo (y un espectáculo al girarme y ver al personal mirándome como a un perro verde)...
Pero lo de hacer el idiota en el IKEA... Eso es algo que me encantó (no me importa hacer el idiota sí así consigo que alguien sonría :-)).
