Un mundo muy pequeño / A very small World

English below (just look for the blue text),

Hola,

---------------- English Version ------------------

Hi,

As usual in the last times, apologies first of all for the regrettable delay in publication of my posts. There are still a thousand things I am dealing with and I think it's time to tell you what happens in this small corner of Europe that they promised to us in Maastricht ...

First of all: everything is going well... Actually, things are going pretty well: in fact, I think we complain too much ... It is true that we are going through a huge economical crisis but... Honestly: except for health problems that someone may have... We are living quite well (be honest with yourself).

It is a lesson I learned from a guy from Cadiz that lived in here for a few months and left that small piece of wisdom in this town ...

Well ... Actually left two lessons: this was a great lesson (learning not to settle and find what you really want in life) and another is the discovery of my recent years ...

Because there is nothing more surprising that, every morning, while you travel in Metro here in Amsterdam, be listening Cadiz's chirigotas ...

And there is nothing weirder than being working in Amsterdam while reciting an extract from Selu's "Los Enteraos"...

When you're away, suddenly, you are able to connect with these things... It may seem incredible from where you are but, believe me, when you are abroad, you, all of a sudden, connect with that thing of things...

The last one: I'm hooked on TVE's "Pelotas", created by José Corbacho and Juan Cruz (I like it: I thing it is very original :-)).

Life is wonderful with the Mac (Hopkins: trust me, you're missing something): my parents will be migrated by the end of this year and my sister has suddenly discovered that the apple that tempted Adam and Eve in paradise was really appetizing :-))

i try to "save" as much people as I can: a friend of mine said "I can see that technology passionates you"... When I explain the features of a device, I realize it: I'm not explaining how an electronic device works, but I'm explaining the user experience through the object (that is something I learned from someone named "Teo," a few years ago, in my "old life").

Regarding my "motivational & fun systems at work", right next to my precious aluminum friend, I have 12 chocolate bars covering 6 different varieties for the coming days (it's my way of contributing to projects where I work: I am "the sweet side" :-))

This weekend I have made my income tax: unlike other countries, we have no obligation to make it (because you've already paid every month), but if you have the possibility you receive some money back then you have to do it (if you do not, obviously you lose the right get those returns) ...

I do not think I will get anything back but, anyway, I wanted to do it :-))

And, in just a while, I will have to change of place... It will be the fourth time since I'm here ... It's a fun process: it forces me to reduce my luggage to a minimum and that sort of philosophy is very consistent with my understanding of life (everything you own should fit in a suitcase) ...

And while all of this happens, I remain invisible in this small town where we all know each other, though noone speaks to you...

This is a strange society, where neighbors do not know and do not speak to each other, especially given the size of this place (this is not New York, London, Paris, Berlin or Madrid) ...

Because of that, I do exercise my personal little revenge: I do walk in this city from end to end in just one hour and a half... I miss the times where only the center of Paris took me like 5 hours walking (Madrid it is also small for me, but it is not definitely this small :-)).

I do not know that else I could tell you: I have tons of of unpublished posts saved as drafts (I write things that I do not publish in the end: there are plenty of interesting things that will never see the light of the day :-)).

It's time to go to sleep: this is the Europe that they promised us and, even though this is not exactly how we imagined it, we can always think that, in the end, always in the end, you just need to smile to feel that this little world can be a different place where there are no monks selling Ferraris or mice looking for cheese, but where there are simply human beings who should understand the final aim within human needs' hierachical structure: happiness...

That's it! Amsterdam prevails! :-))

Paquito.
